Warning- The Ten Commandments
May Be Harmful To America
In McCreary County Kentucky, officials placed a copy of
the Ten Commandments inside their county courthouse. The
ACLU challenged the county officials' right to place the
Ten Commandments on their courthouse wall. The case
weaved its way from the local courts then through the
Court of Appeals and eventually before the United States
Supreme Court. In 2005, in a split decision, the Court
ruled against McCreary County by a vote of 5-4. Justice
Antonio Scalia dissented and stated that; "the display
in question do not violate the First Amendment and never
did." Justice Scalia further stated that, "If
religion in the public forum had to be entirely
nondenominational, there could be no religion in the
public forum at all."
Recently, a second attempt was made to once again place
the Commandments in the McCreary County courthouse.
Again, they were challenged by the ACLU. The case was
again appealed to the United States Supreme Court. This
week, the United States Supreme Court refused to take
another look at the challenge. Now, the lower court
ruling stands which prevents the Ten Commandments from
hanging on the walls of McCreary County Kentucky.
In 1980, the United States Supreme court declared
unconstitutional the posting of the Ten Commandments on
the walls of the Public Schools. They stated that; "If
the posted copies of the Ten Commandments are to have any
effect at all, it will be to induce the schoolchildren to
read, meditate upon, perhaps to venerate and obey, the
Commandments," which, the Court said, is "not a
permissible state objective under the Establishment Clause."
That's quite a statement!
We would challenge our readers to note what the court
stated in part. It is not a "permissible objective"
for children to "obey" the Ten Commandments. That's
quite a statement. They said those children must not see
the Commandments because if they do, they might obey
them---things like "don't steal", "don't kill" must be
kept from our children. Now 31 years later we must ask
ourselves the question, "Are we better off?"

The Hypocrisy of The
United States Supreme Court
While the court suspends the posting of the Ten
Commandments in other places on American soil, the
commandments are found numerous times in the United States
Supreme Court Building. The architects and designers of
the Supreme Court building built in 1935 did not see a
problem including several representations of the Ten
Commandments in the architecture. There is a depiction
of Moses and the Law located on the front of the United
States Supreme court building. The Ten Commandments are
posted on the wooden interior courtroom doors among other
places. Today's court is quite different from the Supreme
Court of 1892 which wrote; "No purpose of action
against religion can be imputed to any legislation, state
or national, because this is a religious people...This is
a Christian nation".

The Influence of The
Ten Commandments Lives On
Those who set this nation in motion referred to the Ten
Commandments as the: Laws of God, Ordinances of God,
Statutes of God, Divine Law, Revealed Law, Holy Law, Book
of Laws, Eternal Laws given to Moses on the Mount, His
Just and Holy Laws, the Decalogue, Foundation of Our Holy
Religion, Immutable Laws of Good and Evil. John Adams who
was an original member of the Continental Congress and a
signer of the Declaration of Independence said; "The
Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount contain my
religion," Roger Sherman the only Founding Father who
signed all four major founding documents stated; "That
a God of infinite Goodness can (through atonement) have
mercy on whom he will, consistent with the honor of His
law and Government and all of His perfections, is a much
better ground of hope than the denial of self-love."
William McGuffey, in his foreword of McGuffey's Reader,
said in 1836: "The Ten Commandments and the teaching of
Jesus are not only basic but pleneary."
President Harry Truman said; "The fundamental basis of
this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount."
Ronald Reagan said; "With freedom goes responsibly."
Sir Winston Churchill once said, "You can have
10,000 regulations and still not have respect for the
law. We might start with the Ten Commandments."
The laws of our country have historically been based upon
a higher law, God's law. When the higher law of God is
abandoned another law, Man's law, will replace it. Man's
laws at their best are fickle and changing. For instance,
the sin of sodomy was looked upon as breaking God's
immutable law, the higher law. Today, the higher law,
God's law, has been abandoned and man has changed his law
to accommodate a sinful, perverted lifestyle. Attorney
John Whitehead summarizes this thought well. "The fact
that this principle [that God is the final lawgiver]
carried over into the early life of America is apparent in
the natural way the summary of Biblical law, the Ten
Commandments, functioned as a pattern and a guide both in
court decisions and in the framing of individual pieces of
legislation." Episcopalian theologian T. R. Ingram
has observed that the reference point for the common law
was in the Ten Commandments: "Christian men have
always known that what we might call political liberty as
part of all Christian liberty is a consequence of
upholding the common law...the Ten Commandments."
The humanistic doctrine of evolution allows man to create
for himself the law he believes will most benefit evolving
man. In actuality, when man hedges on God's law, then the
law of the land becomes what men or the courts say it is.
Abortion is made legal because it is convenient for the
mother, although God condemns it. Roe vs Wade was man's
law to alleviate the problem of women who chose or do
choose to live in sin without consequences. A true
judicial system must be based upon God's unchanging laws!
In his Institutes of Biblical Law, R. J. Rushdoony
has well summarized this truth; "If a powerful and evil
man, class, or group can push an innocent man out of his
property, or in any way abuse him, the evil is compounded
if they can command the state to help them in their
theft...The courts must transcend the passions of the
day. It must represent a law-order which judges the
entire social order, and this is possible only if the
judges represent God, not the people of the state."
It is important to remember that without God's Supreme
Law, the laws of the land serve the interests of the
strongmen in society. Someone has well said that; "Men
will either choose to be governed by God or to be ruled by
tyrants." (Greg Bahnsen) Our present world is
experiencing the abandoning of Gods Law and the
implementation of Man's law. |

A Date To Remember
We are asking each of you to mark November 5th,
2011 on your calendar. On that day, Return America
will march for
Traditional Family Values
through the streets of Winston-Salem. The homosexual
community in their entirety will be marching in Winston-
Salem in the middle of October. It is important that the
churches and Christian community come out and support
Biblical Family values. If you believe in Biblical Family
values, please assemble a network of churches and
Christians and ask them to clear their calendar for this
special important event.
There is no doubt the homosexual community has been
bolstered by recent laws leaning in their direction. They
will have national speakers and large crowds
trumpeting their cause. It is our prayer that the church
community will rally to our Judeo-Christian tradition and
show Winston-Salem and our country that the church and
family are still alive and well in America.
Remember the date. We will assemble at 12:00 Noon on
November 5th, 2011. We ask each of you to
report for duty! |
